“NOCTURNAL LOVE SONGS”
July 26 - August 16, 2003

new work by: CAZ LOVE
opening reception: Saturday, July 26, 2003; 7 - 11PM

OVERTONES presents "Nocturnal Love Songs," an art exhibit featuring new work by upcoming artist Caz Love.

Caz Love's new installation of vintage wedding dresses creates an environment that offers a visceral experience of the dream world and its secretive nature. Love transforms familiar objects into mystical ones, with an assemblage of sheet music, dream libretto, alchemical imagery, text and other found ephemera. "Nocturnal Love Songs" is a journey into the enigmatic and irresistible dreamland, infused with the sensual imagination and distinctly unique artistic sensibility of Caz Love.

From the world of secrets and dreams, Love leads us down the hallway of "Sweet, Again and other sad songs," a more playful series in which "set of panties are adorned with a girly/glam rock use of color, glitter and attitude." With her own brand of collage, Love examines and subverts traditional symbols of femininity.

Caz Love's installation at Overtones brings to a vivid existence a "goth/femme environment" that simultaneously keeps us dancing between dreaming and awakening.
