Last week to see CHRISTOPHER CHINN's exhibit

Time flies in LaLaLand: we are entering the final week of CHRISTOPHER CHINN's solo exhibit "On The Row"--don't miss the opportunity to view the exhibit before the final day of the show, April 26th, rolls around. We'll be moving on quickly so, yes, this truly is the last opportunity to view an exhibit that has had an amazing and heartwarming response thus far. Gallery hours are Wednesday through Saturday, 12noon to 6pm, but as usual you can always call us if you need try to squeeze in a time that better fits your busy Angeleno schedules.
A few days later, we'll be springing back up with a special Master of Fine Arts Exhibition featuring the photography of LINDA JETT. This exhibit will truly be short--just a couple of weeks--so you'll really have to hustle to see it, but it will be worth the effort. Linda Jett'ss work will be on view beginning Wednesday, April 30th and will toast the artist on SATURDAY, MAY 3, 2008 from 7-10pm so save that date!
And, while we have you with your calendars out, the eve of SATURDAY, MAY 17th will be extremely special--mark that one too, but we'll keep you in suspense with the details until we come closer to it [and your attention span is not so strained].

Looking forward to seeing you at the gallery--now conveniently located on the way to the beach!

OPENING SAT., MARCH 15: CHRISTOPHER CHINN

Join us this SATURDAY, MARCH 15th from 7-10pm, for the second opening at our still-feeling-new location: CHRISTOPHER CHINN's solo exhibition will present a body of work inspired by the artist's encounters with the homeless population in downtown Los Angeles, where Chinn moved after completing his MFA studies at the USC Roski School of Fine Arts. Chinn's compelling portraits further the connections between us all, depicting, with palpable dignity, the real faces of homelessness, and bringing to our attention that it is not just the issue of the streets in urban dwellings, but one that we must all pay attention to and work together to solve. Christopher Chinn's exhibition, entitled "On the Row"will be on view through April 26, 2008.

MARGI SCHARFF & OVERTONES GRAND OPENING!

It's finally happening: our new location is ready for you and we are hoping you'll be able to join us for the Grand Opening this SATURDAY, JANUARY 26th, 2008 from 6-10pm.

Our very first exhibition at the brand new gallery is a retrospective of MARGI SCHARFF's work, entitled "A Life Well-Traveled".

Margi was an amazing artist and an extraordinary human being. We are honored that she has entrusted her art estate to OVERTONES gallery and we are pleased to be able to celebrate her life by sharing her art with all of you.

In celebration of Margi and her travels, OVERTONES gallery has published a book of her art and writing inspired by her journeys through India. The book, "Margi Scharff: On India Time," will premiere at the opening reception, with a reading of a selection of stories from the book at 8pm.

We hope to see you at the gallery this Saturday, with a raised glass to life, art and new beginnings!

THE BIG MOVE

We have arrived!
To our new building, that is!
Simply put, our old neighborhood was just not gentrifying fast enough so we decided to move ourselves where gentrification is taken seriously: Mar Vista! It just seemed to go really well with our motto that finding the true solution to any problem lies in becoming a part of the problem--so, here we are--and we're loving it!
However, as it can sometimes happen with life, some things during this big move were simply out of our control and, as a result, we've had to adjust, adapt and slow down a bit. Meaning, our Big Opening has been postponed--but only for a week which, as well all know in LA, is really no time at all.
We hope you'll join us for the opening of our new doors on SATURDAY, JANUARY 26th, 2008 6--10pm: it will be a celebration of both our new digs and the opening of the retrospective exhibition of art by MARGI SCHARFF and we would be honored and thrilled to have you here for the toast!

Until we see you again (on the 26th, hopefully!): we wish you a happy, healthy and fulfilling NEW YEAR!
